bookimg The Anxiety Cure - An Eight-Step Program For Getting Well

Author Dr. Robert DuPont is perhaps best known as having been the founding president of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Over the years, his work with anxiety disorders has been widely known and respected. His two daughters have joined him in writing this book.

A well-established 8-step format, found here in a user-friendly version, is detailed for any of the anxiety disorders. Short case-histories are also included which solidify and personalize the ideas presented.

An excellent book.

bookimg Healing Fear: New Approaches to Overcoming Anxiety

Perhaps my very favorite of the books is this one by Edmund Bourne, M.D.

You may be familiar with Dr. Bourne's earlier book, The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook. For several years, Dr. Bourne was director of the Anxiety Treatment Center in California, helping many thousands through his work and his popular workbook.

Here he shares more wisdom; he too has worked long and hard to overcome anxiety challenges. Not only does he provide a tremendous amount of useful strategies and options to utilize, but he also moves steps deeper into the underpinnings of anxiety. "My impression is that anxiety arises fundamentally from a state of disconnection‹a disconnection of each individual from self, significant others, environment, community, society, and spirituality," suggests Dr. Bourne.

Remaining in favor of conventional cognitive-behavioral therapy and medication where necessary, this book touches upon far more that those basics, giving readers strength and true encouragement.
