sadA dear friend has been killed....

Posted by KerryAnne In Tassie on August 13, 2009 at 05:22:57:

We received a phone-call this afternoon from a friend's mum in South Australia to let us know her youngest son was killed this morning in a head-on collision with a semi-trailer while holidaying in New South Wales with his friends.

David was like a son to us we have known him since he was little. His mum had the pet-shop next door to our shop. He grew up with our neice Sophie they were best friends and like brother and sister. Sophie is devestated and we are still in shock. David has visited us here in Tassie and he was always happy and smiling and very thoughtfull and buying us gifts..."just because he wanted to"

The town where we lived on the mainland is in shock...his best friend who was with him was also killed they are both from the same town. My hubby tutored David right through highschool as he loved electronics and dreamed of owning a computer shop...which he did by the time he was 19. There's not too many kids out there who have their own shop at that age. He was dedicated, a hard worker and loved life. We loved him and were so proud of him.

David's father was killed in a semi-trailer crash when he was only 9. He was going to accompany his dad on the trip and something came up and he couldn't go and his farher lost his life in that crash.

They have to bring his body back from New South Wales this week. It was on the news this afternoon :(
We are planning to fly to South Australia for the funeral....I badly want to go and getting on a plane right now with 2 frozen shoulders means nothing compared to the grief we are feeling...not to mention what his family are going through right now.

David was only 24 and was always smiling and loved life.
Sorry I'm waffling on...I just can't believe our smiling "young David"...that's what we've always called him, is gone :(

Give your kids a big hug before they go to bed tonight...they are never too big for a hug

Hugs, Kerry

I'm very sorry, I wish I could say anything to make you feel better.

I'm sure the flight will be ok, I'm sorry it has to be for such a sad reason, though. You'll be alright.

                      A big hug from here.

                      Anna

                      sadThanks everyone...

I have just spoken to David's mum. She said they don't know what caused the accident and the New South Wales police are still doing investigations and there will be an inquest. The boy's bodies haven't been relased as yet so they can't make funeral arrangements until they get their sons back.
For now I'm keeping busy packing for the trip and psyching myself up for the plane-flights.
Just feeling very sad right now

Dear Kerry, I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am that you and John and Sophie have lost someone so loved. It's always hard to accept death but when the person is so young and full of joy, it's almost unbearable. My prayers for you and also the young man's family. I wish there was a way to make this easier for you but there isn't one. Big, Caring Hugs, Judy

I had a dear friend die unexpectedly years ago and the pain is excruciating.

Know that we are here for you if you need to talk and post.

                      Take care.
                      I'm so sorry.
