Hi Anna, I had to fly to see my sister a year ago at Christmas, and after the flight, I really don't feel as overwhelmed by the idea of flying again. It was the first time my son was flying (he was 1 and a half). I did take Klonapin prior to getting on the plane. I don't know how you feel about taking something to settle the anxiety, but I knew that it was something that was necessary for me at the time. I also think it is a good idea to write about it as much as possible. Some may say that its not a good idea to dwell on it, but I believe...for me...the more i write or talk about it...the more it loses it's power to overwhelm me. I don't know if this helps, but medication, along with honesty, and finding something else to focus on made it actually feel okay. I want you to be surrounded by the green of Ireland.

Hi Anna, I just wanted to say that I'm married to a retired military pilot, and we have flown together a few times. I can honestly say it's not my favorite mode of transportation, but when I had no choice, I managed to do it. The first time I flew alone, I jabbered so much to the man seated next to me, he ordered a double shot of whiskey. Then he told me that the pilot didn't want to die any more than I did! If you can distract yourself with a book, crossword puzzles, etc, it's easier. If I had to do it again I would, even if it was white-knuckle all the way, LOL. Hugs, Judy
